A Mararaba Upper Area Court, Nasarawa State, on Thursday sentenced two men Kabiru Ibrahim and Yusuf Danjuma, to two months imprisonment each for smoking cannabis sativa (a.k.a.Indian hemp).
The judge, Ibrahim Shekarau, said he convicted the defendants as they admitted committing the offence. He, however, gave the convicts N2, 000 option of fine each, and warned them to desist from committing crime.
The convicts, who had no definite addresses, were arraigned on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, constituting public nuisance and making the atmosphere noxious for human health. They admitted to the crime and pleaded for mercy.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Hamen Donald, had told the court that the convicts committed the offence on June 16, at about 12.30 p.m. He said that a team of police surveillance team, led by Insp. Lawal Usman, attached to `A’ Division, Mararaba Police Station raided a ‘black spot’ at Orange Market. Donald said that in the course of the surveillance, the two convicts were arrested while smoking Indian hemp. The prosecutor also said that the offences contravened Sections 97, 192 and 198 of the Penal Code. Flood in Benue: Makurdi illegal structures, buildings to be demolished
MAKURDI—Benue State government is to embark on mass demolition of illegal buildings and structures erected on waterways and floodplains in and around Makurdi town to check a repeat of the flood that submerged over 2,000 houses last Sunday morning. Governor Samuel Ortom, disclosed this yesterday after undertaking an on-the-spot assessment of parts of the town submerged in the devastation that has left over 15,000 persons homeless, describing the situation as overwhelming. He further hinted that as a temporary measure, the government would deploy earth moving equipment to create drainage channels in the devastated areas in order to open up drainage channels for the flood to flow. He said: “We do not have a choice but to embark on demolition of illegal structures and buildings on water ways and drainages, if this matter must be addressed appropriately so that people do not continue to suffer in this manner. “Given the magnitude of the situation at hand, we call on the Federal Government to urgently intervene in the problem because the flood has rendered many residents of Makurdi town homeless.” While lamenting that the problem came at the time his administration was facing challenges of salary payment, Governor Ortom called on those living in flood prone areas across the state to relocate. He directed the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, to liaise with the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, for the purpose of assisting displaced persons. He specifically requested the Federal Government to consider the release of ecological funds to Benue State, maintaining that if urgent steps were not taken, the sad experience of 2012 might repeat itself.

Physically Challenged Man Controls Traffic In Lagos
A physically challenged man identified as Sani Labaran, fends for himself and family by driving a tricycle a.k.a 'Keke Napep' and also by controlling traffic in Lagos. Despite his condition, the married father of two made a decision not to beg as some others do to survive. Read his story below as shared by the Humans of Lagos.
I have been in Lagos for the past fifteen years. I was a bicycle repairer before then and came here to hustle.
Due to my decision not to beg, I started controlling traffic. I've worked around Guiness road, Toyin Street, Olowu and Eko Idumota. Some people give me money when they see me working.
I have been disabled for as long as I can remember. If I wasn't, I would have loved to be a soldier. But with things being this way, I still struggle to survive.
I have a wife and two children who are in Zamfara with my parents. Asides helping the community to manage the traffic, I also drive a Maruwa. It is not mine so I pay N1500 to the owner from the 3K or N3500 I make daily. What is left after fueling it is what I take home.
I dream of owning a Maruwa and be empowered someday. My name is Sani Labaran, my friends call me Sani Abacha. I am 35 years old and come from Gumi local government area of Zamfara.
This is my story.

Kim Kardashian says, 'My daughter would make a better president than Donald Trump'
Kim Kardashian In an exclusive interview for the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, attacked US President, Donald Trump, saying her 4-year old daughter North West would make a better president.
In the interview, she was asked who she believed should be in the White House and she said, 'not the president now. Anyone can run the US better. My daughter would be better. We’ve worked so hard to get where we were and to have so many things that we were so proud of in this country, to literally just revert backwards is the most frustrating thing. Every single day when you can’t really believe what’s going on, the next day it’s something else even more crazy and tragic' she said.
She added that 'It’s really scary the world that we’re living in now. And when you did feel safe at home, now with Trump in presidency you don’t feel safe anymore'.
She also said I don't follow Trump on Twitter, ‘I follow Obama though.’

Floyd Mayweather’s Bodyguards Are So Big They Take Separate Private Jet (Photo)
Because of their size Floyd Mayweather’s bodyguards do not travel on the same plane with him, they are too big.
Floyd Mayweather’s big bodyguards take a separate jet to follow him around the world since they can’t fit in his private jet.
Mayweather is known to be followed by bulky body guards who are part of ‘Money Team’.
According to BBC boxing correspondent Mike Costello says, the big bodyguards don’t fly with the 40-year-old in his private plane.

Pictures Of Mcgregor And Mayweather Compared To Titanic
In
his return from a two-year retirement, Floyd Mayweather improved to 50-0 with a 10th-round TKO over an incredibly game Conor McGregor in their pay-per-view superfight at T-Mobile Arena. But the storyline was just as much about McGregor, the UFC lightweight champion, in defeat than it was about the 40-year-old Mayweather in victory.
There was no love lost between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor in the Las Vegas ring last night… or so you might’ve thought.
So it's only fitting that Mac and Mayweather took their chance on the pay per view screen to replicate a little slice of romantic movie history.
Although Mayweather has officially announced his retirement from professional boxing, there's one thing for sure...
His heart will go on.
9 Craziest Things Doctors Removed From Patients
1°
200 Stones
Surgeons at Guanji Hospital, in Hezhou, China, recently spent six hours removing over 200 stones from a woman's gallbladder and liver, some of them the size of small eggs.
The patient, a 45-year-old known only as Ms. Chen, had apparently been experiencing abdominal pain for over a decade. When she first went to a hospital, an examination revealed several stones in her gallbladder and liver as the cause. Doctors advised her to undergo surgery and have them removed, but she was too scared to go under the knife. She only recently went to Guanji Hospital, when the pain became “unbearable.”
Dr. Quan Xuwei, one of the surgeons who operated, said that such a large number of stones was unusual, adding that it was probably caused by the woman's eating habit.
2°
27 Contact Lenses
A 67-year-old woman has had 27 contact lenses removed from one eye. The discovery was made after the woman went to Solihull hospital in the West Midlands for routine cataract surgery.
In a report for the British Medical Journal (BMJ), experts from the hospital reported “a bluish foreign body” emerged during the procedure “as a hard mass of 17 contact lenses bound together by mucus." Ten more were found under further examination.
The experts wrote: “The patient had worn monthly disposable lenses for 35 years. She had poor vision in the right eye, and deep-set eyes, which might have contributed to the unusually large number of retained foreign bodies.”
Rupal Morjaria, a specialist trainee in ophthalmology, told Optometry Today: “None of us have ever seen this before. It was such a large mass. All the 17 contact lenses were stuck together. She was quite shocked. She thought her previous discomfort was just part of old age and dry eye"
3°
40 Knives
In 2016, surgeons removed 40 metal knives from a patient who spent two months swallowing them, according to the doctor who led the operation. The unnamed 42-year-old man, who had an "uncontrollable urge" to eat the knives, went to a hospital in Gurdaspur in Northern India after complaining of stomach pain and weakness. Only after an ultrasound revealed a large mass in his stomach, did the man tell doctors he had swallowed knives.
Malhotra said they found folded knives, unfolded knives, and rusted and broken knives in the man's stomach. "I'm sorry I let my family down," the father of two said. “I'll be forever thankful to doctors and hospital staff for saving my life.
4°
7cm Mushrooms
A woman had to have mushrooms removed from her stomach by surgeons after they began to grow inside her. Doctors shared gruesome footage of the fungi lodged in the 50-year-old woman's gut, some of which had grown to up to 7cm long.
The mushrooms became stuck in the woman's stomach as she often reportedly ate cooked dry mushrooms directly without soaking them and didn't chew them properly. She went to the hospital after suffering from stomach ache, and doctors found that the mushrooms had expanded in her stomach and got stuck.
5°
A Fish
A man who put two live pond loaches into his anus went into intensive care after one of the fish swam up into his intestines. The unnamed 45-year-old man, who was drunk at the time of insertion, was rushed to hospital with signs of a high temperature, low blood pressure, and severe stomach pain.
According to reports, the man admitted to voluntarily putting two pond loaches into his anus when he was heavily under the influence of alcohol. Doctors in Guangzhou, southern China, managed to remove the fish successfully. One had broken through the bowel wall, which was causing the patient severe abdominal pain.
As the two loaches had stayed in the patient's body for over 24 hours, surgeons had to perform an abdominal digital radiography to locate them.
6°
Live Cockroach
Doctors in Chennai, India successfully removed a cockroach from a woman's skull and—guess what, it was alive!
Selvi, a domestic worker living in Injambakkam, was fast asleep when she felt an insect crawling inside her nostril. She tried to brush it aside, but it had already gone in. She then went to the clinic where the doctors told her to visit Stanley Medical College Hospital. After the nasal endoscopy, the doctors found the cockroach sitting on the skull between her eyes. The doctors are glad that Selvi turned up at the right time because if the cockroach died, it might have harmed her brain.
7°
Melon-Sized Hairball
A teenage girl is finally able to eat properly after doctors removed a hairball the size of a melon from her stomach. Aakansha Kumari had secretly been eating her hair for years, but her parents noticed something was wrong when her weight plummeted to just over two stone. So, doctors carried our an X-ray which revealed a huge mass that was taking up more than 80% of her stomach.
Kumari was diagnosed with Rapunzel syndrome, a rare condition in which a hairball (called a trichobezoar) is found in the stomach, with its tail in the colon. Named after the Grimms fairy tale character, it is associated with trichotillomania, where sufferers have an irresistible urge to pull out one's hair, and trichophagia, the compulsive eating of hair.
8°
Pen Cap
A man lived almost 20 years with a plastic pen cap lodged in one of his lungs after he inhaled it as a child and forgot about it. Doctors found and removed the partially-dissolved cap after the man started coughing up blood and went to the hospital. When they showed it to him, he recalled accidentally inhaling the pointed object when he was a youngster in the 1990s.
He suffered fits of coughing throughout his childhood and early 20s but never thought that it was due to the pen cap. His symptoms have since been relieved following surgery.
9°
Scissors
A man in Vietnam was walking around for 18 years with evidence of a cutting-edge medical mistake, a pair of surgical scissors, stuck inside his body.
In 2017, doctors removed the scissors from the abdomen of 54-year-old Ma Van Nhat. The tool was discovered during a routine medical check. The six-inch cutting tool was found on the left side of the belly, next to the colon and doctors said it was stuck to his organs.
Amazingly, Nhat rarely suffered pain, until recently. He was prescribed ulcer medications on occasion. He believes the scissors found their way into his body in 1998 when he had surgery at Bac Kan Hospital following a traffic crash. The hospital's director, Trinh Thi Luong, is now taking great pains to find out who may have left the scissors inside Nhat.
Liverpool vs Arsenal: Why we lost 4-0 – Wenger
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has said that their 4-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, “is a consequence of our performance, which wasn’t good enough”.
The Gunners suffered their second consecutive away defeat in the Premier League at Anfield, as Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Daniel Sturridge punished them clinically.
It leaves Arsenal with three points from three matches, two places above the relegation zone.
Wenger said afterwards: “The result is a consequence of our performance which wasn’t good enough.”
“It was a very disappointing performance. Of course it was shocking but the performance on the day was disastrous.”
“There are some reasons behind it [the defeat] which we have to analyse. The emotions are big and very negative.”
“That’s part of the crowd’s feeling. If I’m the problem, I’m the problem. I believe we lose together & we want our fans to be together”

Anybody Trying To Arrest Me Will Die, Says Nnamdi Kanu
Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Sunday said anybody trying to arrest him will die.
He said this in reaction to the call of the Federal Government that his bail should be revoked.
Speaking at Boys Technical College (BTC), Aba, Abia State, Kanu paid tribute to those reportedly killed at National High School by security agencies.
He said the quest for Biafra was unstoppable, adding that the call is a “message from heaven.”
He also insisted that the Anambra gubernatorial election will be boycotted except a referendum which the group has been clamouring is conducted.
“Where we are is Biafra Land. Aba is the spiritual capital of Biafra land. We started in Aba in 2015 at CKC (Christ the King Catholic Cathedral),” Kanu said.
“That day, heaven authenticated our move that IPOB will restore Biafra and that’s what we’ve come to do. We died in Aba, at National High School.
“They shot and killed us in other places in Biafra land when they were protesting for my release. As our people rest in the grave, we’ll never rest until Biafra is restored. I don’t care what they say in Abuja. I don’t give a damn what they say in Lagos.
“I’m a Biafran and we are going to crumble the zoo. Some idiots who are not educated said that they’ll arrest me, and I ask them to come. I’m in Biafra land. If any of them leaves Biafra land alive know that this is not IPOB. Tell them that’s what I said.
“Tell Buhari that I’m in Aba and any person who comes to arrest Nnamdi Kanu in Biafra land will die here. I’ll never go on exile I assure you.
“Some people talk about restructuring, are we doing restructuring of Nigeria now? Are we doing fiscal federalism? Are we doing devolution? What we want is Biafra!
“Forget all the nonsense they write about us. We are not slowing down and no man born of a woman can stop us.
“They thought we are joking and God gave us a simple message that no one can stop us. The movement to restore Biafra is unstoppable.
“The message of heaven is what I bring to you. Don’t be afraid. The plans of our enemies are not going to be actualised. The enemies are planning, but we are formidable.
“We are going to boycott Anambra state election. After Anambra 2017, in 2019, there’ll be no elections in Biafra land. Signed and sealed. My message is that there’ll not be election in Biafra land ever again until they give us date for referendum.”
Re-Arresting Nnamdi Kanu Would Set Nigeria In Flames, IYC Warns Buhari
Meanwhile, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has advised President Muhammadu Buhari against re-arresting the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, over his violation of his bail conditions, warning that doing that would “set Nigeria in flames.”
The IYC, under the leadership of Eric Omare, also criticised the presidency for its poor handling of the quit notice given to Igbos in the North by Arewa youths. The group claimed things would have taken an entirely different twist if the threat had emanated from another tribe.
“It is the height of nepotism and sectionalism for the Buhari administration to treat the Arewa youth leaders who committed a serious offense bordering on a threat to national security with kid gloves while the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, is being threatened with arrest and several Niger Delta activists are languishing in detention,” the IYC said.
The IYC urged President Buhari to release Niger Delta youth activists who were arrested for making comments on social media, an offense far less grievous than the threat issued by the Arewa youths.
“While the Arewa youths are enjoying state dinners, Niger Delta youth activists, such as Ezekiel Daniel, Alex Odogu, ex-militant leader Bonny Gawei, and several others, are in underground detention cells. Ezekiel Daniel has been in DSS detention for more than a year for a mere Facebook comment. This is sad and unacceptable. The IYC condemns this institutionalisation of double standards in national affairs by the Buhari administ
JAMB issues warning over 120 cut-off mark
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned candidates that the 120 cut-off mark, does not guarantee automatic admission into higher institutions of learning.
This week, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, insisted that stakeholders in education sector, unanimously agreed that the minimum cut-off marks for the university degree for the 2017 academic year be put at 120, lower than the previous years, which stood at 180.
The decision has since attracted much criticism, with even some universities kicking against it.
JAMB, through its official Twitter account, has however sought to offer more explanation.
“The 120 cut off mark doesn’t mean an automatic ticket for admission.
“Institutions will still admit using established criteria of merit and others.
“Candidates with higher marks will be considered first,” the update read.

Wife of man who died after Arsenal loss to Stoke City opens up
Wife of the Arsenal FC fan who slumped and died in Owerri, the Imo state capital during last weekend Premier League game against Stoke City, has opened up on how her husband, a ‘die-hard’ supporter of the Gunners, died.
The man’s wife, Ndidi Ejimba, who has three kids, said since Dominic, her husband died, on Saturday evening, things have not remained the same for the family.
The woman said that watching Arsenal play in any competition at all, was life to her husband.
She said the deceased had left his shop later that afternoon to watch matches involving top English Premiership clubs.
She told Punch, “My husband came back to the shop at the end of the first half of the match between Arsenal and Stoke City to urinate.
“He promised to be back at the end of the match, telling me how his club would win. But about 20 minutes after he left to watch the second half of the match, somebody rushed to the house to inform me that he had slumped at the viewing centre and that he was being rushed to a hospital.
“When I got to the hospital and saw him, he was almost dead. He was on a stretcher. At a point, one of our neighbours, who was among those that rushed him to the hospital, told me to go back to lock the shop and get a vehicle we could use to transfer him to another hospital.
“According to him, the hospital he was rushed to couldn’t handle the situation. I never knew it was a trick to send me away from the place because all that time my husband was already dead.
“It was until the next day, which was a Sunday that I finally believed that my husband was dead after he failed to wake up.
“His corpse was finally deposited at the morgue by the hospital workers. The sight of his lifeless body left me in utmost shock and a deep sorry state.
“My husband was neither sick nor showed any sign of being unhealthy. He woke up normally and we were all looking forward to a great day and other activities that weekend before the tragedy.
“We had plans together as a family but now death has taken him away. He died less than one month after we moved into our new house in the village. We were planning to dedicate the new building with relatives and friends when he died.
“To imagine that my husband who took good care of us is no longer around is unbelievable . I don ’t know where to go from here because life has not been the same for us since then.
“Watching Arsenal play was his life. He would rebuke and sometimes ignore me whenever I told him to reduce his obsession with Arsenal.
“He loved the club so much. He was ready to chase his customers away and lock up his shop just to watch the team play.
“For the 10 years that we were married, he never stopped watching football matches involving Arsenal.
“He was a loving man to his family and all those who came in contact with him. He had a lot of plans for us especially the children whom he promised to train to any level as far as education was concerned.
“He did his best to always make us comfortable and happy; we never knew death would snatch him away from us so soon. Words cannot tell how much we will miss him.”

7 Overall Reports on NYSC ABIA STATE ORIENTATION CAMP ( personal assessment)
MY OVERALL REPORT BASED ON MY PERSONAL ASSESSMENT ABOUT ABIA STATE ORIENTATION CAMP July 26th-August 15th , 2017.
You don't need to fight me on this.... Am only talking from my own personal and humble experience on the camp.
"Camp Abia: The first camp in Nigeria", as it is popularly called, is really one of the camps to be for the compulsory three weeks Nysc orientation course. Not just because she is the first on the list of NYSC camp, but she also possess some beautiful features that it's worth talking about.
Before i went for service, trust me, i have heard lots of terrible stories from many people. Even from those that have never being to the gate of any camp. They told me a book-full of different "Faboos". lol....
I heard about the terrible lifestyle on camp; the maltreatment corpers receive from camp soldiers; the sickness and lots more. Am very sure you heard the same stories too, or perhaps you will soon hear them.
My deployment to Abia state did not give me enough opportunity to confirm if those stories are really true, but what i know is that Camp Abia is the contrary of it all. So don't be annoyed if you passed through all those horrible experiences as we were told. Let me give my brief reasons why i will recommend Abia state for any prospective corp member to consider including in their 3 choice of Service.
1) Perfect Location
Abia state camp is located in Igbere, Umunna, Bende Local government of the state. The location of the camp is perfectly figured out to eliminate every stress and inconvenience any stranger may encounter in locating it. Unlike many camps which are located in the urban area of the state, Abia camp is located away from heavy traffic. So even if thousands of prospective corp members decided to travel down there on same day, traffic will never be a problem. "The sky is wide enough to contain thousand birds at a time".
2) Easy Access to Water
This is a very important factor to consider when ranking Nigeria camps. If you think that's a lie, you better ask people that served in camps like............ they will tell you how important water is to corpers over one thousand in number.
The water supply in Camp Abia was okay.
On 27th of July (Night), their was disastrous thunderstorm @ 10:25pm which damage two summour pump and a Lister Generating Set....
The State Coordinator in Person of Mrs. Francesca Ifon marvels at this occurrence saying she has never seen this type of thing before during her speech the next morning, which made her call for an SOS arrangement, and water tankers was used to distribute/supply water in d stationed reservoirs around.
Some group of Corp members who are Geologist and Mechanical Engineers came together, worked as a team...fixed the two summours and the lister generating set and Every corper always have their fill. To wash, to drink, and to take their baths. One of the Corps member was given letter of recommendation on 14th August for a service to the camp.
3) Food
Camp Abia food is not the "Oh my God" type of food. It was fairly okay. They don't absolutely go for indigenous foods like some other camps will do. The only one i could remember eating on the camp is Garri (Eba). Which i don't think its too strange as such for any Nigerian youth.
4) Security👮🏻♀👮🏻♀👮🏻♀
The security👮🏻♀ on this camp is 100%. You have nothing to fear while on the camp. Ranging from the terrible insurgency to the least expected insurgents.... Mosquitoes. You are completely save from them all....(by fumigation) I must say this .. Mosquitoes is 100% dead in the camp. So for those batch that are coming, you don't need mosquito net.
I must commend the Camp Commandant, Major A.I Jauro, The RSM, Armman A., and the rest of the paramilitary forces e.g( Baggio, Oloboisir(10platoon), Emmanuel, Abudulahi,Tope) etc. for ensuring tight security of lives and d entire camp from the arrival day to the day we passed out.
While on Camp Abia, you can sleep with your two eyes closed😔 without the fear of a thing.
5) Health
I must commend the Federal Ministry of Health for their help and support. Medical Consultants, Nurses and Midwife from the ministry synergize and worked with the Medic corp members.
Though their were several emergencies but their was no loss of life.
I must commend the Camp Clinic (Agomoh-Ogbonna C.(Mrs) and the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia and the entire Medics in camp for prompt intervention during emergencies and distress calls. Not forgetting the corps member who assisted them.. Red cross Volunteer members... They are all just Perfect... No casualty was recorded in the Camp.. What a testimony.
6) Hospitality👩🏽⚕👨🏽⚕
Camp officials on the camp treats the prospective corp members as their own children.
I commend the State Cordinator, Mrs. Francesca Ifon, The Camp Director, Mrs. Goody-Ekezie V.N, and entire NYSC officials for their humility, humanitarian and selfless service to we the corp member s. They really sacrificed convinence to serve us better. They won't permit maltreatment from any soldier👨🏾✈ or camp officials.
I can't for one morning at the parade ground the rain was drizzling so hard, the camp director have to dismiss us, various corps member were so happy praying for further occurrence, though it comes, but we are ask to use the multi purpose hall....
7) Good accommodation is on ground for corpers to rest their heads.
At Abia camp their are good hostel facilities for both Corp members and Officials, Not the type that you will need to support the windows or matress with mats or your kaki. But a comfortable one to have good dreams of better Nigeria.
Chaiiii I love those halls, most especially Ochendo X2 hall.. Full of fun...all time. Not forgetting our hostel governor In person of Nnamdi... 3 hearty cheers... Hip hip hip....hurray...
Also has a multipurpose hall, a medium size pavilion, a medical centre, a camp court, serveral Administrative offices, a modern kitchen, NYSC Stores Department, and a big Parade ground, a camp market (Mammie market).
Mammi market traders are also everything to write about. They don't over-inflate their prices beyond normal, and are really helpful in running your little shores for you.
If you want to really confirm these things i have said, consider choosing Abia state and enjoy, not only the Camping life, but also the after-camp experience on the streets of Abia State.
Still Obeying The Clarion Call!
